What Could be the Reason that My I-140 Has not Been Processed Yet?

Dr. William:

I applied for I-140 Extraordinary Ability and I-485 simultaneously by myself. The current published processing date for USCIS service center covering my state has already passed about 2 months over my I-140/I-485 application date, but I have not heard any information back from the service center. What could be the reason that my I-140 has not been processed yet?

Answer:

The published processing date for an USCIS service center is the date that the petition files should be assigned to an USCIS examiner. That date is not the date that all petition cases have been approved or rejected. So the applicants may need to wait longer than the published processing date to get the processing results, because an examiner may take longer time to process a particular case.
