The
people who are required to file AR-11SR (Change of Address for Special Registration) should
note a big difference between AR-11 filing requirement for those non-immigrants
who are not subject to special registration and AR-11SR filing requirement for
those non-immigrants who are subject to special registration.
For
AR-11 filers, the 10-day filing requirement is triggered only when there is a
"change of address." For
AR-11SR filers, they will have to file AR-11SR whenever there is a change
-
address
or
-
employment or
-
school.
This
reminder is particularly important for those who are in the U.S. on a
student/exchange visitor status or employment permit status. Very important in that such a minor
violation to file AR-11SR on change of school or employment can trigger a charge
of violation of status and face a surprise charge of deportation.
